An immersive original exhibition at the Church of St. Nicholas in Jiráskovy Sady, Hradec Králové

A new site-specific immersive exhibition, created especially for this cultural monument with its extraordinary history, invites visitors to experience its story through contemporary artistic expression. It is inspired by the fate of the church, which originates as far away as eastern Slovakia and was relocated several times over the course of history.

The installation offers a playful journey in search of the genius loci of this unique space — a building so small it could almost fit into a pocket, yet with a presence that elevates the spirit of the park and reveals beauty in ordinary things. It offers moments to pause, perceive, and become still — moments that can refresh and set us in motion.

Through interactive elements, sensory engagement, and a playful principle, visitors will encounter both the history and the present of this singular place. Just as the church once travelled across the landscape, the installation encourages an imaginative and sensory journey in its footsteps. It also uncovers secrets that cannot be found in an ordinary guidebook.

This audiovisual exhibition offers visitors not only a glimpse into history, but also a sensory experience through spoken word, music, and visual objects. Through headphones, they will be guided through the first, outdoor part of the exhibition. The second part takes place inside the church. The exhibition’s guiding voice is performed by actor Jaroslav Plesl, a native of Hradec Králové.

The exhibition opens to the public on 16 April 2026.
